the honey gem experience

Your wedding day isn’t exactly like anyone else’s, and your photography package shouldn't be either.

While our wedding packages are custom-tailored to fit your exact needs, you can always expect the same process—one that goes FAR beyond just showing up to take photos.

you don't have to do it alone.

It’s important to you that candid and heartfelt moments are captured as well as editorial-style images. You deserve a combination—flattering candids and curated portraits that showcase your best side. Your final gallery will include in-the-moment tearful glances exchanged as your groom sees you walk down the aisle, perfectly-posed portraits showing only your best angles, and so much more.

Editorial Poses & Candid Moments

You’ve seen my work and know it has the look you want for your wedding, but you can’t quite put your finger on what makes it different from other portfolios you’ve come across. What you’re noticing is film, a type of photography that creates an expensive, three-dimensional look and brings out amazing skin tones. I shoot film when natural light is available and switch to digital during your reception so that you get the best of both worlds. Digital backups of each film photo are taken to ensure failsafe protection of your images.

You’ve pinned ring shots featuring pretty velvet boxes adorned with florals and invitations laid out on a linen background, but will you get photos like these of your own? The answer is yes! Prior to your wedding, I’ll go over your linen colors, bridesmaid dress colors, and floral and design board with you and your planner to curate a custom styling kit. The result? Detail shots that perfectly match every single wedding photo you receive.

Ideal ceremony lighting is a must. You don’t want to be squinting in all of your photos because your ceremony is positioned in a location without shade, and I don’t want that for you either! To avoid this, I’ll schedule a complimentary venue walkthrough with you or your planner to scout the perfect spot for your vow exchange as well as ideal portrait locations for every possible lighting scenario.

Photos cannot replace hearing your vows and seeing your first steps down the aisle. You’re looking for a highlight film with music that sets the scene and audio from your day that tells your story. From your ceremony to the reception toasts, you also want audio and video of your wedding to be captured from start to finish. However, hiring separate photo and video teams comes with uncertainty. Will they work well together? What if they get in each other’s way and miss important shots? Hiring one photo and video team provides peace of mind. We know exactly how to work with one another, ensuring a seamless production that results in the photos and video you’ve always wanted!

Seamless Videography Integration

Your wedding is one of the most important days of your life, which is why it’s of the utmost importance to hire a photographer who will keep your precious memories safe after the wedding. Our failsafe backup plan guarantees that you will receive gorgeous images no matter what—even in the unlikely event that film is lost in the mail or a memory card fails.

Here’s how our triple-backup system works: Each film image is also shot on digital using two different cards slots in case one has an error while shooting. If something happens to the film, you will still have the digital version of that shot; if something happens to the digital, you will still have the film version. Your digital photos are uploaded to four hard drives after your wedding or portrait shoot and kept in four different locations (including a fireproof safe). Finally, the cards we shoot on are never deleted until after your photos have been delivered.

Safe Backups

You want your photos to look consistent so that they display beautifully on your Instagram feed. To make this possible, your film is sent to Richard Photo Lab in California to be scanned, developed, meticulously color-corrected, and turned into electronic files known as film scans. We use the film scans as a guide when color-correcting your digital files to make sure everything looks the same. Your film scans typically require less editing time than digital photos, which means quicker turnaround times for you!

As questions arise throughout the planning process, you’ll never be left hanging due to slow response times. You’ll get a same-day reply each time! The day after your wedding, you will receive sneak peeks so that you can relive every moment. Your final photos will be delivered 6-8 weeks after your wedding day via an online gallery that makes it easy to download, share, and order prints of your images.

Here's what to expect every time you work with us!

— Heather, Bride

"Choosing Brooke to be our wedding photographer was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding! Brooke was so sweet and amazing to work with - she really took an interest in our big day and made us feel special vs. just another client.

Five Stars:

Brooke was an absolute godsend! She was like a best friend through the planning process, if I ever had doubts about a design or timeline she was always happy to help and provide useful insight with inspiration!

I’ll send over an easy-to-follow booking proposal that includes a contract, payment terms, and the answers to a few questions. I require a 50% deposit to hold your date with final payment due 30 days before your wedding.

How do I move forward with booking you following our initial phone call?

The amount of images you receive varies depending on the amount of hours I spend shooting. As a point of reference, if I'm shooting for 8 hours, you can expect to receive between 600-800 high-resolution images delivered via an online gallery. Our online galleries make it easy to order prints, download all high-resolution files, share photos via social media, and create a list of favorites. If you’d like to see an example of a gallery, please feel free to send me an email.

How many images will I receive?

Once you sign your contract, you’ll receive rights to all edited images. You are welcome to share your images via social media and print them for personal use only.

Will we own our photos after the wedding?

We currently have two videographers on the Honey Gem Creative team. Both videographers have been trained extensively to shoot in my style, and I retain creative control by personally editing all wedding videos.

If we hire you for photo and video, who will my videographer be?

Not all packages come with a second photographer. If a second shooter is needed, I will reach out to my network of vetted wedding photographers. Each photographer on my list is someone I have previously worked with who has a style and process similar to mine, ensuring a cohesive wedding gallery.

Who will my second shooter be?

Editing includes curation of the best images, color correction, exposure and contrast correction, cropping, lens correction, straightening, and highlight and shadow recovery. Additional fees apply for advanced retouching.

What does your editing process look like?

In the event that I’m unable to photograph your wedding, I will reach out to my network of vetted wedding photographers to find a substitute. Each photographer on my list is someone I have previously worked with who has a style and process similar to mine.

What happens if you’re unable to shoot my wedding?

Prior to the wedding, I will have you complete a family photo list questionnaire. You will have the opportunity to list every combination you’d like to see along with the names that correspond with each combination. On your wedding day, I’ll use this list to keep things moving efficiently so that family portraits feel like a breeze.

How will you organize family photos on our wedding day?

I will send you an engagement session guide ahead of time that includes examples of what to wear, the best times for shooting, tips for scheduling hair and makeup appointments, and so much more. I’m also happy to provide feedback or answer any general questions that come up along the way to ensure you look your best and feel confident during our session.

How do we prepare for our engagement session?

I shoot a combination of editorial poses and candid images using film and digital photography. My priority is finding the best possible light so that you look amazing at all times. While the best light is almost always natural, I will use a flash for dark receptions.

What is your style of photography?

You will receive 5 next-day sneak peeks after your wedding. Complete engagement and bridal portrait sessions are delivered within 2-4 weeks, and wedding galleries arrive 6-8 weeks after the big day.

When will I receive my photos?
